This paper analyzes the hierarchies of needs of human being, namely needs of existence, needs of enjoyment and needs of development, On the basis of which divides human life into two segments: the lower things and the higher things. The paper points out that any layer of the needs of human can originate different information needs and behaviors. So far information science only focuses on the information need and behavior originated by needs of existence and lacks attentions to the higher things in human life. The paper generalizes existing higher things in information science and the impact of the introduction of higher things to information and outlines a conceptual framework of information science based on both lower things and higher things in human life.
This paper researches information science under the perspective of philosophy of science. Based on reviewing the development history and six turns of philosophy of science, the paper establishes a relational model of philosophy of science and information science. This model proposes two paths analyze philosophy of science inspiration to info-r mation science, which is from / science0 and / philosophy0. And then, the authors analyze the application of multivariate philosophical thought to information science. Finally, the authors analyze information science from the perspective of six turn of philosophy of science.
This paper reviews development history and basic viewpoints of phenomenology, then analyzes its reflection on information science from three areas including the phenomenological nature of information, phenomenology in information behavior, and phenomenology in information technology. At last, the authors analyze its major enlightens in information science from the two aspects of perfecting philosophy system of information science and improving the interaction between the user and the information system.
This paper describes the basic idea of the post- modernism and hermeneutics, and analyzes the concept and subject characteristics of modern information science and post- modern information science, and describes the transfer of research priorities . This year is the 30th anniversary of the basic theory of library science textbook publishing. The paper compares the textbooks of the basic theory of library science published between 1980s and 21st century, and the conclusion is the textbooks published in the new century are innovation and development of the basic theory of library science. In this paper, the total articles and publication lags of 19 kinds of core journals during 2006- 2008 in library and information science, which are included in Guide to Core Journals of China ( 2008 edition) , have been analyzed. Concurrently the parameters of total cites, import factor, references volume, average citation quantity, the ratio and the number of the fund- subsidized papers of the 19 kinds of journals have been analyzed and summarized. This paper shows that the progress has been made in quantity and quality of professional academic journals in Chinese library and information science, but compared to the overall level of the source journals for Chinese statistical papers and citations there is still a certain gap.
