Based on co-occurrence analysis theory, this study uses data samples from CNKI, combines various social network analysis and visualization tools such as SCI2、Pajek、Louvain、Vosviewer and Cortext to describe thematic correlated structures, dynamic evolution process in OGD research in China. Findings indicate that (1) research focus on egovernment, big data, public data, security, credit information, and data quality, studies concentrated on e-government, big data and public data are important and immature, studies focusing on security are significant and well developed and mature, and research on data quality and credit information system is highly developed but marginal. (2) OGD research is imbalanced in theme distribution and research direction; the evolution of several themes is clear while discontinued and isolated themes existing. (3) the government policy exerts great influences on research of OGD in China; research on policies and law needs to be refined and technical research needs to be enhanced; the research on data literacy instructions needs to be promoted.
