[Purpose/significance] This paper expounds the opportunities faced by the first-class discipline of library information and archives management, and probes into the development path of disciplines and specialties.[Method/process] Starting from the construction of new liberal arts, this paper takes the new library, information and archives as a system, analyzes the influence of external environment on the system, specifically from the four dimensions of higher education, technology, industry and culture [Results/conclusion] The construction of new liberal arts is not only an opportunity but also a challenge to library, information and archives management.
