Abstract

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Knowledge proliferation is the important measure of professional virtual community’s success. Limited by research horizons, previous failed to open the black box to interpret the mechanism of knowledgeproliferation. This study introduces knowledge utilization and illustrates in four cases that PVC users will create newknowledge in the process of knowledge application. Further, this study expands the concepts of knowledge quality andreciprocity norm in PVC background in order to explore conditions for PVC knowledge proliferation. [Method/process]With instrument developed independently, this study recruits 233 valid subjects and conducts scenario experiment. Then, the structural equation model is used for statistical analysis. [Result/conclusion] The results show that: knowledge utilization partly mediates the positive relationship between knowledge seeking and knowledge contribution; knowledge quality positively moderate the relationship between knowledge search and knowledge utilization, reciprocal normspositively moderate the relationship between knowledge utilization and knowledge contribution. This study discusses theapplicability of empirical conclusions, and summarizes the theoretical contributions and practical suggestions.
