文章探讨了网络和信息环境的巨变给图书馆学情报学及文献信息工作者带来的巨大挑战, 回顾了情报学作为一门学科的发展历程及与图书馆学的关系, 进而针对学界争论的学科的名称问题提出了自己的看法; 与此相关, 就当前学术研究中”跨界“和“ 过界” 的现象发表了意见并提出了建议; 文章最后分析了知识就是力量→ 信息就是力量→ 共享知识就是力量的变化过程及意义, 并呼吁加强知识管理研究。

This article explores the challenge given by dramatic changes in the Internet and information environment both to library and information science and to documentation and information workers, and reviews the course of development  of information science and its relations with library science. And  then the author expresses his opinions over the  disputes around what is the best name for library and information science as a branch of learning; in relation to this, the  author airs his ideas on a “cross- disciplinary”  phenomenon and  “out- of- bounds”  phenomenon in academic research. The article analyzes finally the process of changes from  “Knowledge is power”  to “information is power”  and then to  “Sharing knowledge is power” and its significance, and appeals for strengthening the knowledge management studies from documentation and information professionals .
